Temperature Zoning

Home Temperature Zoning is simply the process of dividing your home into different zones, or areas, and then heating or cooling them as needed. It’s the ideal way to eliminate hot and cold spots. Plus, zoning systems save energy by heating and cooling only the areas of your home that you’re using.

Temperature Zoning Right for You?

Temperature zoning is highly recommended if your home has:

  • Multiple levels
  • Room(s) with large windows
  • Large open areas such as vaulted ceilings or foyer
  • Room(s) in a finished basement or attic
  • Room(s) with an exposed concrete floor
  • Rooms that are consistently too hot or too cold
  • Bedroom(s) in the upper levels
  • Rooms that are used occasionally
  • Occupied rooms in the attic or basement
  • An extra room over the garage

Every Zone Gets a Thermostat

Every home has at least two zones – a living space and a sleeping space. You may also have areas such as a master bedroom or children’s rooms that have separate comfort needs. Your contractor will work with you to determine the number of zones needed to maximize your family’s comfort.

When your contractor installs a Honeywell zoning system everything but the thermostats will be out of sight. A zone control board and zone dampers will be installed around your furnace and in your ductwork.

When a zone needs to be heated or cooled, the dampers automatically open to deliver conditioned air until your comfort needs are met. When heating or cooling is not needed, the dampers close to save energy and maximize comfort elsewhere.

Just program or set the thermostats for the temperature you want in each zone and your system will do the rest

Fresh Air Ventilation

The components of a properly installed temperature zoning system include:

  • Ductwork —Sheet metal or flexible air supply ducts
  • Zone Controls — Controls multiple thermostats to supply conditioned air where you need it, when you need it.
  • Motorized Dampers — Low voltage motors open (or close) dampers inside the ductwork directing conditioned air to the zone that called for it
  • Humidifiers — Help maintain the proper humidity levels in the home to improve comfort and reduce energy costs
  • Air Cleaner — Removes dust, pollen, smoke, bacteria, and other indoor air pollutants

We had Superior Services come out and clean our ducts and air vents to help with mine and my daughters allergies. David R and Josh V did an outstanding job. They were on time, professional and had extreme attention detail. When they were all done they went over the work and what they found for us - was amazing how much they were able to clean out of the vents that our home builder left behind after constructing our home. Would highly recommend them both again!

Superior replaced our heat pump and duct work. Friendly and capable team. They provided an estimate one day then came the next two days to do the work. Very professional with exceptional quality. Great value for the price. They cleaned up so you’d never know they had been here. We use them to service all three of our heat pumps.

I'm a new customer of Superior Services. I had the pleasure of having Superior Services Tech, Chris Ball, out today to perform my first 6 month service call. Chris was knowledgeable, professional, thorough, and patient while answering all my questions. Chris called to tell me when he would be arriving and his arrival time was within the 2 hour time slot of my scheduled appointment. As this was my first time having the units serviced, I felt Chris went above and beyond to ensure that he had answered all my questions. My service call today exceeded my expectations.
